Focus:

  • Using shadows and contrast to capture movement - hustle and bustle of city life in a subtle and effortless way

  • Use the urban landscape of lines, edges and urban shapes, patterns, feature walls for:

    • Balance and symmetry

    • Composition, framing and geometric structure

  • Soft (thematic) colour palette I did attempt to show this (as seen in my experiments), but in my end product, I decided to keep my photos consistent with a black and white theme. It seemed to give the photographs more depth and meaning. And was very 'street photography' appropiate.

    • Photograph is molded around a key colour

      • bright and bold subject

      • subtle hues

    • All combined to create harmony

  • Black and white filter

    • Bring out certain geometric shapes and patterns in the photograph

    • Emphasise shadows and contrasts

Statement of Intent

I am interested in photography's ability to capture the

beauty in the mundane of everyday city life.
